B&A / Autre réglementation

What will the declared information be used for?

The annual declarations are, first and foremost, a regulatory obligation. They allow the performance of each actor to be evaluated in terms of recycling and recovery and where they stand as regards the corresponding regulatory obligations to be seen. The consolidation of the data allows the performance of the battery and accumulator collection and treatment sector in France to be evaluated, by calculating the national rates of collection and recovery, in particular.

On the basis of this date, the ADEME annually draws up the report of the market of Batteries and Accumulators. This report is sent to the Ministry of Sustainable Development and the European Commission and is made available to the general public.

The ADEME also publishes the market shares and collection shares for portable batteries and accumulators.

The collection and treatment data obtained may be compared with the objectives set by European Directive 2006/66/EC, which includes the following:

  • National objectives for collection rates to be reached for portable batteries and accumulators: 25% in 2012 and 45% in 2016, with the average quantities placed on the market for the last three years being used as a reference;
  • Recycling yield objectives for all types of B&A: at least 75% for accumulators that contain cadmium, 65% for lead accumulators and 50% for the other types of batteries and accumulators. Individual marketing data is not published for confidentiality reasons.
